Sharon Vey is Michael Vey's mother. She was kidnapped by the Elgen in The Prisoner of Cell 25 in order to blackmail Michael. The main plot point of Rise of the Elgen is to rescue her. She is killed by the Elgen at the end of Hunt for Jade Dragon.
